Limited Submission Opportunities

In Limited Submission Programs, the sponsor restricts the number of applications or proposals a campus can submit. The guidelines for these programs require the institution to screen pre-proposals or nominations to determine which applications will be submitted for competition. Generally, institutions are allowed to submit one or two proposals or nominations to the sponsor. Please follow procedures for limited submissions to apply. To receive email notification of limited submission programs, please email Esther Pratt (estherpratt@wsu.edu).

Procedures for Limited Submissions

  1. Please complete a three to five page project description and a one-page budget that summarizes the total project period. You may submit a Letter of Intent (LOI), in lieu of the three to five page project description, if the agency/foundation is requiring an LOI prior to the full-proposal. The LOI should be created according to the agency/foundation directives.
  2. Proposed requests for matching funds or exceptions to campus policies must be identified in your project description/LOI and included on your proposed in the budget page. Please do not contact the VP for Research for cost share/matching approvals at this stage. If your project is selected, cost share issues will be negotiated with the Office of Research through the appropriate Chair/Dean/Chancellor at that time.
  3. Complete the Limited Submission Cover Sheet. (Limited Submission Proposal/Nomination Cover Sheet)
  4. Submit all materials to the Office of Grant & Research Development, 423 Neill Hall, by the internal deadline posted on this Limited Submissions web page.
  5. OGRD and/or the VPR will notify PIs of the results of the internal review process. The selected project(s)/nominee(s) will then complete the full proposal for submission or if applicable, submit the LOI, with any revisions, to the agency. Proposals must be submitted through OGRD with a REX form, budget and all appropriate campus approvals.
If you have missed the internal deadline, please email Esther Pratt (estherpratt@wsu.edu) in the event that no other pre-proposals were received you may be approved to proceed with a proposal to the agency.
